Tony's Vision

@TmayRe2
My vision is to have Garfield Re-2 known as the best school district in the valley. My bias is that Re-2 is the best, and I got thinking of how to take the “Best School District” to the next level and work with other school districts to keep setting the bar even higher. It's all about delivering an exceptional learning environment for the kids and to keep the district focused on elevating our children’s education through the Re-2 Strategic Plan.
VOTE NO on recall
SHOW US THE TRUTH
The activists are deceptive and only seek to divide our community
Why is this recall happening?
1. The recall is politically motivated which is further dividing the community. The superintendent and staff recommended ABS as an option, not Tony May. See video below. Tony May is not a bully.
2. The recall will cost the school district $40k plus additional indirect costs, which could be better spent on education.
3. As Board President, I LISTENED to the voices of the community, principals, teachers, staff, legislators, the State School Board, and our own school board. I selflessly stepped down as president to lower the activists political temperature to focus on school business and our children's education.
4. My platform has not wavered, and I have made all decisions through complete transparency.
5. Constitutional rights should be exercised responsibly, and this recall is an unwarranted distraction from the central focus of educating our children. Activists are responsible for bringing shameful politics to the district.

Basis for Bullying
Tony is not the bully!
The activists base their recall on this video that happened 5 months prior to the recall and are forcing the district to spend $40k for this special election.
Tony interrupted and later publicity apologized and the apology was accepted.

Who Really Pushed ABS?
It was the Garfield Re-2 Superintendent & Staff that pushed to include American Birthright Standard.
The District staff pushed the Social Studies Option. Not Tony May! (I did like the option )
Did You Know?
Tell me about yourself:
I moved back to the United States from Canada where I consulted oil and gas HQ’s as an IT Chief Technical Officer. While there, I was also a certified ski instructor, and taught disabled children the joy of skiing. Best of all, I met my wonderful wife back then while on an Alaskan fishing trip. Since settling in Colorado, my wife’s life-long home, I’ve coached my daughter’s soccer, basketball, softball, and skiing teams, and have contributed to the local 4H youth chapter.
What are your thoughts on ABS?
Although I don't think ABS will be implemented in Re-2, our student-citizens must have a full command of our most essential American concepts and documents. Today, the average graduate gets a couple classes and knows very little of the overall American process. I turned to this curriculum because it is a comprehensive way to get the depth our young people deserve. Full comprehension of "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness" shouldn’t be crammed into one semester as high school senior. Instead, I think American ideals should be presented throughout each grade. My idea is inclusive rather than exclusive to any momentary political extreme. ABS provides a deep understanding all the way back to the Magna Carta. The United States of America, approaching her 250th birthday, serves as an exemplar of Western Civilization. Our system eclipses all nations. That should be understood. To adequately do so, note of our failures to meet with our own code should be made. ABS appropriately addresses those stories as well. I think they could have come up with a better name because the story of the United States is about people that came from other places. While I naturally accept the vote of the board, I think it’s fair to say ABS provides a more comprehensive level of education on our system. Suppression of this view is why we’re holding a special election.
How do you view the future of education in the Garfield Re-2 school district?
The consensus on our Strategic Plan makes me really optimistic. A couple of first key steps we’ve taken this year were to implement (and test) a new elementary Math program and a Student Career and College Readiness program. The culminating objective of the latter is to deliver a high school graduate who is demonstrably ready to contribute to our community and beyond. The exit criteria were mutually derived with employers and colleges/universities. It’s here I must express how much I’ve appreciated constructive public comment and supermarket conversations I’ve enjoyed as we developed this plan. Change can be hard and we’re deliberately going after big goals. We used to do this as a country and it made us extraordinary. We can be extraordinary again. We just need to set aside our fears. Another big change that is currently upon our district is mastery of this wonderful thing called AI. This, too, will be something on which the board seeks community input as we go forward together. Also, I do want to see a change and will continue to advocate for increased interaction between the schools, parents, and care givers to participate in an interactive, two-way conversation. This will accelerate the learning environment for our kids.
What do you think are the most pressing issues facing the Garfield Re-2?
The #1 issue in our school district is stagnate (if not declining) standardized test scores. In general, Colorado is well below the national average. More specifically, Re-2 students test at the thirtieth percentile. As such, I felt a personal responsibility to help our school board find measurable solutions that both raise the bar and lift our kids up because one of the best gifts we can give our kids is a great education. After all, they’re the future of our country. As the Re-2 School Board President, I collaborated with the rest of the board, the superintendent, and the community to develop and deliver a Strategic Plan (https://garfieldre2.net/about-garfield-re-2/strategic-plan) that addresses the broad array of challenges ahead in achieving measurably higher quality education. Those metrics will hold the district accountable and we’re eager to see the latest round of test scores. This year the Strategic Plan aims to achieve approximately 36% proficiency in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics on CMAS tests. The district’s goal is to increase this to 50% within the next two years, aligning with or surpassing the state level.
What is it that American conservatives want to conserve?
The answer is pretty simple. They want to conserve the principles of the American Revolution that is characterized by three basic freedoms: 1.economic freedom or capitalism, 2.political freedom or constitutional democracy, and 3.freedom of speech and religion. These are the freedoms that, in their original form, American conservatives seek to conserve. -Dinesh D'Souza
Tell me about your previous experiences on any boards that you have been on prior to this election?
I’m currently the president of our HOA and our Fire Mitigation District. I also serve on the Garfield County 4H Shooting Council, and I am the Treasurer for the Colorado River Board of Cooperative Educational Services. I have successfully led discussions with my neighbors, over an entire summer, to establish revised by-laws on which everyone eventually agreed, but originally held dissimilar views. As with my time on the Re-2 School Board, I have found we agree on issues far more than we disagree.
Who was your favorite teacher?
I grew up for a few grades in Santa Fe, NM. My first school was Los Niños kindergarten and my teachers name was Mrs. Gomez and her helper was Ms. Burgerbox. Mrs. Gomez was blind and we found and learned braille throughout the halls and huge classroom. My favorite time was when we role played in our miniature town and I was the "Mailman" and ran the post office. What is ironic in my young adult life, back in my day, I was the company "eMailman." I ran a 100k seat email system and wrote custom protocol gateways just to converse with other companies. Email was so different in the late 80's and early 90's.
How do we pay teachers what they deserve?
My message to the teachers union is lean to into their leverage of influence at the state level. The next governor really needs to cut bait and run with a new model of state government that is thinner and education centric to transform our great state.
Did you know you can get the truth here?
Please support Tony May by voting NO on this recall measure and sending in your ballot. It's also crucially important to urge others to send in their ballot. Your vote against this recall effort will keep Tony’s sensible commitment to quality education on your Re-2 School Board. It’s worthwhile to note the so-called Republican candidate put forth by the Democrat activist group, Coalition for Responsible Education in RE-2 (CORE), is supported by Voices Unidas and Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays, (PFLAG.) Republicans would never endorse this man. One of his closest of associates is a radical Re-2 ex-board president who masked our kids and sent them home to 100% virtual learning. Tony would like you to know him for who he REALLY is; a servant to the community, someone who to speaks up for families and their kids with a platform to: Elevate the Quality of education we provide our kids in a safe learning environment without distractions as described in the Strategic Plan. These are the key components parents need to be proud of our school district. Tony May constantly helps people and is faithful to our community. In turn, our community has placed their trust in him to be their school board representative. In representing the overwhelming majority of the community, he as fought for parental rights, removal of masks, and aided the districts effort to stem absenteeism. A children's education is far to important for this recall initiative to prevail. If you want a meaningful commitment to improving the quality of education provided in Re-2, please vote No. Please vote NO on this measure and consider helping Tony pay for legal fees this initiative has imposed upon him. Any contribution could make all the difference. https://www.givesendgo.com/GC663
